Sailor's Manyo ("Ten Thousand Leaves") line of fountain pen inks features beautiful and unique colors inspired by the plants and flowers of Japan. The name is a reference to the Manyoshu, the oldest and most revered anthology of Japan's poetic compilations. 4516 poems wrote by every class of person ranging, from Emperors to merchants and farmers. Manyo is an abbreviation of "Manyosyu" and its meaning indicates people of all ranks.
To celebrate the 5th anniversary of Sailor Manyo inks, Sailor has developed a new line called "Manyo Ink in Love." This collection is inspired by the "Manyoshu," the oldest and most revered anthology of Japanese poetry, which contains many poems about love. Each poem selected by Sailor for this collection highlights an element of nature, reflected in the color of the ink.
The Asagiri ink from this collection is inspired by the following poem:
"Because we have only met vaguely, like the morning fog,
I continue to love you as if my life were about to end."
Sailor presents five limited edition colors, each with a gold-stamped label to commemorate this anniversary.
The Asagiri ink, a red fountain pen ink, is presented in a 50 ml square bottle with a limited edition label bearing the name "Asagiri 朝霧". This color and the others in the collection are based on flowers mentioned in the "Manyoshu," an anthology comprising 4,516 poems written by people of all ranks, from emperors to merchants and farmers. The name "Manyo" is an abbreviation of "Manyoshu," meaning "ten thousand leaves," representing people of all social classes.
