LIMITED EDITION: ONLY 38 PIECES
Sailor are proud to announce the fifth model in the series of special Limited edition Fountain pens called "Taki to Shizen" (Waterfalls and Nature) by Maki-e artist Ikki Moroike.
Lampyridae are a family of small beetles in the Coleoptera order with over 2000 different species. They are soft bodied, nocturnal, winged insects commonly called Fireflies or lightening bugs because of their very conspicuous use of bioluminescence (light emission) during twilight to attract mates or prey.
The Firefly is a very well known symbol of Summer in Japan.
The King of Pens (KOP) is introduced as the top of the range, developed as the symbol of Sailor’s technology, quality and writing perfection gained with the experience of over 100 years. Special attention has been given to the oversized 21K solid gold nib (the life and soul of the fountain pen), which provides top writing quality.
All the nibs of the King of Pens are made of 21 carat gold, which gives them a very smooth feel on paper. The 21 carat gold, but also the polishing of the tip of the nib in iridium which protects the gold, make this large nib an exceptional piece in the world of gold nibs. In this size of large gold nibs for large pens, the fine size and sizes below do not exist: the length of the nib would make a FINE (or even extra-fine) nib too fragile.
In general, Japanese nib sizes are always narrower than European standards.
Here is a comparison that will help you choose the size of the nib
