The Herbin company, manufacturer of sealing wax, was founded in 1670 during the reign of Louis XIV. It is also the oldest brand of ink in the world.
Jacques Herbin was a navigator and it is from one of his trips to India that he imported his shellac formula which earned him great fame in the kingdom.
Ink production began during the 1st Empire and Herbin inks were used by Napoleon Bonaparte.
Even today, Herbin inks and waxes are recognized and renowned around the world.

Encre précieuse, maison qui date de Louis XIV! 1670 je crois,: et bien je n'achèterai plus que cette marque, quelle joie de pouvoir disposer de produits d'une marque chargée d'histoire, qui a vu passer tant de siècles, qui sait peut-être que Victor Hugo, Baudelaire ou Proust achetaient cette marque d'encre? Peut-être que de grandes oeuvres ont été signées avec cette encre...cela me fait digresser: Moi je n'écris pas d'oeuvres, mais les encres que j'ai choisies sont parfaites, par ailleurs, il y a une grande variété de couleurs, en plus, le nom de chacune est poétique. Des choses simples qui font vraiment plaisir.
