This edition will be available from June/July 2022
The Professional Gear series has just been joined by a spectacular edition and is sure to stir the imagination of so many pen enthusiasts. Inspired by Mother Nature’s incredible spectacle of light and vivid colours, the new Sailor Storm over the Ocean looks like that little spark of inspiration you need to feed your creativity and boost your writing flow. So come aboard and let’s find out what we should expect from this release!
As an edition built on the silhouette of a Professional Gear, it’s pretty clear we’re dealing with the same well-known flat top design, as for the colour palette used, we notice only two shades, one that seems to look like a navy blue with fine accents of shimmer – to recreate the vivid illumination of the sky by lightning – and the other, a very subtle touch of purple on the finial as well as on the end of the barrel for a perfect symmetry.
Still on the cap, the center band as well as the clip have been given a chrome finish, thus harmoniously matching the overall colour scheme of the pen. Moving on to the barrel, despite being magically decorated with little sparkly glitter, done even so in a subtle and tasteful way, there wouldn’t be much to add, but we already know how comfortable the grip section is, don’t we?
The Storm Over the Ocean model will be produced for a limited time.
Since the establishment in 1911, the Sailor Pen Co. has been proudly maintaining its belief in the importance of precision writing instruments. Still today, they offer the discerning customer technical perfection and writing quality. This model – The King Professional Gear has a selection of 21K gold nibs (the same as on the King of Pens) and a unique design with a cut-away cap and inlaid Sailor anchor logo on the top.
All the nibs of the King Professional Gear are made of 21 carat gold, which gives them a very smooth feel on paper. The 21 carat gold, but also the polishing of the tip of the nib in iridium which protects the gold, make this large nib an exceptional piece in the world of gold nibs. In this size of large gold nibs for large pens, the fine size and sizes below do not exist: the length of the nib would make a FINE (or even extra-fine) nib too fragile.
In general, Japanese nib sizes are always narrower than European standards.
Here is a comparison that will help you choose the size of the nib
