The Kanreki Red fountain pen was created to celebrate the 60th birthday of Sailor's nib designer, Mr. Kagwaguchi Akihiro, who was also the original designer of popular Professional Gear fountain pen. Red is the colour most associated with birthdays in Japan, and the sixtieth birthday bears significant importance in Japanese culture.
