Visconti QWERTY Limited Edition Rollerball Pen

Visconti QWERTY Limited Edition Rollerball Pen

The Qwerty rollerball pen, Visconti’s new limited edition, celebrates the invention of the typewriter. Decorated with aged silver details, it comes in a custom-made box inspired by the first Remington typewriters.

All the internal components of the pen are made using the turning technique. The pen itself is plated with precious aged silver and engraved on three different levels with a special technique which gives the writing instrument a three-dimensional effect.

The bespoke box is divided into two containers: an upper one that contains two ink bottles, one red and one black, and the lower one where the pen is stored. The aged silver details, such as the Visconti logo plaque and the keys that make up the Qwerty logo, turn this case into a wonderful object to display on your desk.

Visconti QWERTY Limited Edition Rollerball Pen

The Qwerty collection is inspired by the alphanumeric keyboard patented in 1864 by Christopher Sholes. This pen pays homage to a timeless system, born with typewriters, but still present in our daily lives.

THE STORY OF THE QWERTY KEYBOARD

Christopher Sholes and co. patented a first version of the keyboard featuring letters arranged in alphabetical order in 1864. When Sholes and his partners signed a contract with Remington in 1873 to build the first typewriter, the key layout was completely different and was named Qwerty after the sequence of the first six letters on the top row. There are several theories as to why this change took place, but the most widely accepted is that the telegraphers, interpreters of Morse code, helped to reformulate the keyboard in the way that worked best for them.

    A TIMELESS SYSTEM

There have been many attempts over time to introduce different keyboards, but the Qwerty one has managed to make its way around the world and become the established system for typists. The fact that this functionality is as close to vintage as it is to technology, makes it truly timeless.

Visconti’s history began in Florence, Italy. A cradle of art and culture, Florence also known for being home to one of the Country’s largest industrial districts for luxury and fashion.

The company is the brainchild of Luigi Poli and Dante del Vecchio, two friends who met in Florence and decided to turn a common passion into business by founding Visconti on October 20, 1988.

On that date, luxury writing instruments began to make their way in a city that was strongly linked to jewellery, leather goods and any other form of art. Over time, Visconti products became iconic pieces that helped to spread Italian values worldwide: design and creativity, craftsmanship and innovation, quality and luxury.
