Nissan Note is a company which started on January 1, 2019, but it is a combination of two companies, Kyokuto Associates and Apica, which have a history of 100 years.

Personally, I feel fresh every time I open a brand new journal or notebook. I think everyone felt the joy of creating their own worldview in a blank notebook.

In recent years, the practice of handwriting at work, school, and home has declined due to the spread of computers and smartphones, but handwriting not only stimulates the brain.

Nowadays, digital recording is more and more common, but we want to convey the unchanging and sensual charm of handwriting in notebooks through our products.

As a manufacturer, we always take a positive attitude to create new value and provide new satisfaction to all of our customers.

Canson
Canson

The Canson company stems from a family tradition spanning several centuries. Jean Montgolfier, taken prisoner during the crusades in Damascus, would have, in the 12th century, learned to make paper. After his escape, he would have brought the secret to Europe, would have settled in the production of paper, in order to replace parchment.

In 1557, while François de Guise armed a troop to take back the kingdom of Naples from the Spaniards, at a time when tensions reigned between Catholics and Protestants, Jacques Montgolfier, Ambert's stationer, left his native Auvergne to settle in Beaujolais.

This was the start of the geographical expansion of this family which, for several centuries, created a large number of paper mills.

WE KNOW WHERE WE’RE FROM

THE INSPIRATION BEHIND OUR PRODUCTS

When we released our 14th seasonal limited edition, we decided it was about time to get back to our roots. Field Notes in general, and the National Crop Edition specifically, owe their existence to a tradition of promotional memo books distributed to American farmers over the last hundred years by seed, tractor, and other agricultural companies.

Field Notes co-founder Aaron Draplin has been collecting these for years, “rescuing them” from obscurity. He talks about Field Notes’ ancestry in this film, From Seed, and we’re happy to present an ever-growing collection of our “family tree” for your perusal.

hibi
hibi

It was at the beginning of the Meiji era that European techniques for making matches were introduced to Japan. Then, thanks to their quality, Japanese matches became an export product. In particular, the area between Kobe and Himeji with the Port of Kobe and foreign-run trading houses has flourished as a pole of match trading.

Kobe Match was established in Himeji in 1929, where matchmaking remains a local industry to this day.

"We need to pass the story of the match on, even if matches don't play the leading role."

Incense (incense sticks, etc.) made on the island of Awaji, where the pleasant smell of aromatic wood floats, accounts for about 70% of the Japanese national production. Incense-making techniques introduced from Sakai in 1850 were anchored on this island thanks to the westerly wind ideal for drying incense.

Daihatsu Company has a long history of making incense on Awaji Island. From the start of its creation in 1936 in Sakai, it manufactured innovative products such as incense with aromatic materials produced by a French perfumery.

Two companies from two traditional Hyogo industries - Awaji Island Incense and Harima Matches - met in 2011.

The solidity of the match and the aromatic quality of the incense, the choice of scents corresponding to the image of the new brand, the choice of the name of the products and the development of a packaging embodying the Japanese sensibility ... everything is studied to offer a new way to enjoy scents.

Meaning of name and logo

hibi means in Japanese "every day". This name was chosen in the hope that hibi gives you pleasure every day around a scent chosen according to your mood and the occasion. The logo, made up of two identical Chinese characters meaning "day", was designed to convey a "cool & simple" image.

Venvstas
Venvstas

In the first century before our era, the roman architect Vitruvius  wrote a treaty on architecture entitled De architectura, a work that has been enormously influential, especially during the Renaissance when it was rediscovered. In it he described the qualities a building should have, such as: Firmitas - a building has to be solid, Vtilitas - a building has to serve to a purpose, and finally, Venvstas - a building has to be beautiful.

To explain what is solid and what is useful can be for many a simple thing to do, but for most to try to put into words why something is or not beautiful has been always a difficult task. If we refer to the latin word "venvstas"- all we need to know is that beautiful is considered such because it has the characteristics of Venus.
